What it is like to use
Candy.ai gives you two ways in. You can pick a ready-made companion from a large library of realistic and anime characters, or build one yourself: appearance, personality, relationship type and how they talk to you. Then you chat.
The chat is the best part. Characters stay in character, keep up with what you actually wrote rather than falling back on generic lines, and hold onto details over the course of a conversation. You can ask for photos, and the images look like the character you built rather than a random face with the same hair colour. That consistency is harder than it sounds, and it is where most cheaper apps fall down.
Voice messages and short video add to it, but they cost tokens, which is where you need to pay attention.

There is a genuine free tier with limited messages, enough to see whether you like it. Premium unlocks unlimited chat and includes 100 tokens a month:

Your chats are stored so the character can remember you. Use a separate email, keep real personal details out of conversations, and check the account settings for chat deletion. Billing uses a neutral descriptor.
